Speaker 1:

Hello there, this is Michael Caine, with Living your Success 24-7. That's right, living your Success 24-7. Every day, every day. Hope all of you are doing well. Wow, it's been really hot where I'm at, very hot, very hot, 100 degrees weather and, uh, recently went to oregon, which is was it was. You know, it was hot a couple of days, two or three days, and then kind of on the cool side or regular, whatever regular is so. So, and you know, I know, whatever part of the country or the world you're in, hope all of you are doing safe and sound.

Speaker 1:

And I want to talk about the Olympics, but not in the way you think. You know a lot of people are saying oh, wow, wow, this athlete is great, this athlete is good, this one sucks, this one's freaky or whatever. But, um, that's not the perspective I want to take. I want to take about what it takes. I in fact the the relationship that you have in terms of what you do to be successful and what an Olympic athlete does in preparation for their particular sport. And so in elementary and high school and college age, I was athlete, loved to run track and field, cross country run and some miscellaneous other sports as well. It's not about me. It's not about me. It's about, um, my listeners, you, all of you, and I, all of you that are striving for success or to improve your level of success no assumptions here and what it takes in similarity or in contrast with an Olympian or Olympic athlete. I think I had it right.

Speaker 1:

Olympian, yes, and so we know their backstory, that grit, that endless hours of preparation, practicing four, five, six, eight, ten hours a day, whatever it may be, seven days a week. And most of these athletes, that's their passion, that's their life, that's what they want, that's how they identify themselves. To be a swimmer, a boxer, a cross-country runner, soccer, tennis, whatever your sport is. They put in the hours, in the physical practicing and in the mental preparedness, over and above the physical aspect of it. And training for years and years and years. All for one day, two days, or just a short, for a snippet of time. What is the Olympics? 16 days or something like that. So they practice for years Just for this one moment in time. Remember that Whitney Houston song One moment in time, great Whitney Houston.

Speaker 1:

And so To take what these athletes do or have done, how does that relate to you in your climb, in your search in your march towards success. Now do you question out, there is how. What is your input into the skill and knowledge or the vocation that you're seeking to enter or seeking to promote or seeking to enhance? Some kind of way Do you put in? You got to ask yourself, okay, like this 100 meter runner or 220, 200 meter runner, or half a mile mile distance or relay team, whatever the sport Am I putting the same amount of commitment, dedication into grooming myself, ourselves, to be the best that we can possibly be, that we can be that diamond in the rough? Borrow that from Aladdin right the diamond in the rough. He had a low opinion of himself. He was a thief, just no good, but he had the heart. He was misguided. He needed some inspiration, which he got. It Is that you, where you don't see yourself making or attaining the level of success that you desire. I know I could say amen to that um and compared to uh, the olympians and what they have to go through to miraculous to be selected to be on a whatever country of choice, whatever country you're in, uh team, uh, olympic team. A lot of people have to hear no's for you to get that yes, and and you may have gotten many no's in the past too, and have you made it. So? Whatever it is I'm talking about, you could be whatever. You could be a business owner or you could be vying for promotion within your job. You could be on both sides of that fence have a gig, job, a regular 9-to-5 job, but are you putting the necessary time in to study, to learn, to groom yourself, to listen, to educate yourself, to listen, to educate yourself, to improve, where you can be prepared in the way the Olympians train for, is it at that level? Level I was.

Speaker 1:

I'm in the midst of watching this um documentary on arnold schwarzenegger and his rise to the top and came from poor beginnings and just showing methodically how he got interested in bodybuilding. As a way, it was a catharsis, a way to just deliver him emotionally, psychologically and something he felt he could do that can help establish a career, to enable him to be successful, and so those are the kind of things Be helpful to watch. I'm not getting any money commission from Netflix, where this is. I was called Arnold and I haven't finished it, but and and tell you the truth, I know his story Um cause, as, as I was growing up, um, I knew him and, and I was up, I knew him and I was very fascinated with the sport of bodybuilding and so I did attend some events and I knew who he was and I read books Because I was, in my small way, an athlete.

Speaker 1:

Um, because I was, uh, in my small way, an athlete, you know, like I said, college age, high school age and junior high age. Um, so I was never at the caliber of these folks, but the folk. The point is, I remember, after school, uh, practicing hours and this is doing your homework too, by the way and just spending hours working on getting better, getting good and being the best I could be, and I believe I was the best I could be. I just, you know, wasn't as gifted to make it at that level, but that was okay because my goal was not to be a professional athlete anyway, it was just something I did, but I wanted to do my best and I had pride in and commitment, hours, hours and hours each day, each week, years on, my own time too, and so that helped reinforce the discipline. I was trained, or born through my parents, who had absolute discipline.

Speaker 1:

So this it was reinforced by being in a team and having a coach, having mentoring each other I miss that. Each other, I miss that. We may not have liked each other any other time, but when it came to being a team, it was like, cohesive as cohesive can be, and if that could only happen outside of the world of sport, you know, and it can happen outside of the world of sport, you know. And and it can't if people are willing to put in a time, effort and are willing, willing and able like it's your job, you know to become a pure team where, okay, we may not talk outside of that, may not even be friendly sort of, but when we get in this room we get together to work on a project or get the job done.

Speaker 1:

It's like pure business. Pure business Equivalent to two actors that don't like each other or hate each other in private life, but you cannot tell that when they're on screen, right. So that's what I'm talking about Stepping up. And so True grit Cliche is here, but it's so real To mind, body and spirit, to put your total being Into whatever accomplishments that you set your Eyes on. So, and your heart, etc. And your time and effort. And I know it's heartbreaking for some of the athletes in paris. Uh, the day's a closing night that you know. Today's last day, that's it until, I guess, los ang 2028. I was around in 1984 when the Olympics were. They were right in my hometown. I no longer live in Los Angeles now, but I was there.

Speaker 1:

So the point is, let's get that same high-level caliber of attention and sheer focus to groom ourselves for what we want to do and be whether it's for your employment or your business, entrepreneurship, or just to be a hobby that you want to do. Well, it's something that you enjoy doing, but you want to do it well. So let's get that high caliber and study, study the master studies, who's ever on top and what to do and what not to do. And that still may not be enough, because you're you and something you do may take you, propel you ahead of whatever, whoever your role model or idol is, believe it or not, yeah, you can surpass them. Don't sell yourself short. So it's important that we give the same level of commitment, and I know life is challenging and busy, but the question is how important it is to you. So just keep whatever the focus is and as best you can. As long as you did the best you can, there's no regrets.

Speaker 1:

And so, that said, folks, I hope you have a good week and a blessed week, a week of good health, prosperity, healthy, wealthy and wise. Until next time, my friends, don't you forget Living your Success 24-7. And my book, slaying your dragons living life you always wanted on amazon paperback or electronic version.
